Painting and Layout Sketches

Here are my sketches and studies for painting and layout. 

This was probably my first time to come up with ideas so fast for painting. I knew right away that I wanted to do a scene with an old volkswagen van, and I actually drew it the way as I wanted to. The next step would be to put tones on the scenes that were chosen. Tone is one of my weaknesses as well, so I better look up more references and learn them by heart to improve myself. Well, looking forward to work on the Volkswagen van anyways.

And here are some chair drawings for layout. During the class, I totally agree with our teacher Peter that we our taking so many things for granted and we don't even look at the details. For example, chairs! How many people draw chairs but not knowing what is the proportion relationship with a person or an interior space? Well, I admit I had problems drawing with proportion... But I already learned so much just within three weeks of class, and now I know what to look out for to not make the same mistakes. I really enjoyed drawing these chairs and learn the mechanics of their designs, and I should totally draw more.

For this year, I already felt some differences within myself. It seems like my hands and minds are more in sync now, and I hope it will become stronger. Second year started great, and I will try to keep up the good effort.
